Introduction
"Hard but Smart!"
In today's competitive paddling environment, the world is very intelligent in how to paddle consistently at a high intensity. With such a balanced view on the sport, paddling "smart" is essential to gain the extra tenth of a second on the competition. It is both easy and difficult to condition an athlete to train hundreds of hours and kilometers a month, however the trick is in training the athlete to compete with the edge and dedication necessary to win that big race.
Taking a look at the field of kayakers competing in sprint races, the difference between first and last place in the final are merely tenths of seconds. It is a situation like this, where that extra edge fits in. In my experience, the most advanced athlete deserves the most sophisticated and meticulous training and coaching available, to allow them to compete at his/her highest level. It is necessary to give the athlete the opportunity to have the most attention possible to his/her training and therefore an effective coaching strategy that leads to success. This idea of personal and idealized coaching is to help advance athletes in their training as well as competitive performance at the most elite level, where the ultimate goal is to differentiate the Gold medalist from the rest of the field.
